OAU Fresh Students Lament Shortage Of Facilities

By Sodiq Lawal
Fresh students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile Ife, who started receiving lectures a month ago, have bemoaned the conditions of the learning facilities, including lectures made available to them.
It would be recalled that the management of the institution recently matriculated 8,158 new students.
The new students who spoke with Osundefender on Thursday lamented that there are limited facilities against the number of students admitted.
They disclosed that the lecture theatres made available to them are not conducive because they are 70% more than the available seaters lecture theatre.
According to a new student of Chemical Engineering Department, Abd Waheed Tella, he said receiving lectures in OAU is strictly the survival of the fittest.
“Attending classes here is war and it is strictly survival of the fittest especially for compulsory courses. If you come to class 30 minutes before a lecture, you can’t find a seat,” he said.
