Ganiu Obasa, son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has taken over as the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government, following the resignation of the former chairman, Hon. Tunde Azeez.

Azeez, popularly known as Disco, stepped down citing health challenges.

The erstwhile Chairman had gone on medical leave since the swearing-in of the new administration for the council.

Azeez, in the letter read by the leader of the house, Adeshina Haruna, stepped down from his role as Chairman due to persistent health challenges that had impacted his ability to discharge his duties.

OSUN DEFENDER reports the move to make Obasa’s son as the APC candidate during the July 12 local government election was opposed by some stakeholders in the local government, and he was subsequently disqualified.

Following the opposition, Hon. Tunde Azeez was nominate,d while the young Obasa emerged as the Vice-Chairmanship candidate

However, some opposition members alleged that the transition had been “pre-planned” from the outset.
