No fewer than four persons on Friday lost their lives in a lone accident around J3 on the Sagamu -Ore expressway.
The Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Anthony Uga, disclosed this to Newsmen in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, through the Commission’s Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe.
According to the statement, the lone accident which involved a blue colour Toyota Camry, with registration number BDG184FY, happened around 11. 40 in the morning.
The statement read, “fatal crash occurred at about 1140hrs on Friday 09/02/24 on Ore- Ijebu-ode section of the expressway around J3”.
“01 vehicle was involved with registration number BDG184FY a Toyota Camry blue colour”.
“A total of four persons; three male adults and one female adult were involved and they all died from the lone crash”.
Uga attributed the cause of the accident to excessive speed which, according to him, led to loss of control and the vehicle veered off the road and somersaulted into a swamp.
He added that the remains of those who died had been deposited at the State General Hospital morgue Ijebu-Ode.
“It was a combined rescue operation with FRSC, TRACE and ZEBRA 50 Ijebu-Ode.
The Sector Commander, Anthony Uga advised motorists taking long journeys to always have 15 minutes rest after 4 hours drive to avoid fatigue while driving and also go with the stipulated speed limit.
He sympathized with the families of the crash victims and enjoined them to contact FRSC Ogbere for more information about the crash.
