A traditional ruler, the Towulade of Akinale in the Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye has joined his ancestors.
He was 79 years old. He was a foremost journalist who had stints with the old Daily Times of Nigeria.
He retired as the General Manager, Public Relations of the defunct Nigeria Airways. He was first installed as the Baale of Akinale in 2004 by former Governor Gbenga Daniel and was among those elevated to an Oba by the same administration in 2006.
It was gathered that the royal father was indisposed for some time and was taken to St. Thomas Hospital in London, where he died on Wednesday afternoon.
A source close to the late monarch, disclosed that the royal father who just completed his PhD programme in law, was warming up for his graduation in a few weeks.
The source said, “Towulade of Akinale, Oba Olufemi Adewunmi Ogunleye joined his ancestors @79 in a London hospital after a brief illness”.
“May the soul of the Kabiyesi rest well and find favour in the bosom of his Creator. Amin”.
