Ogunkanmi Mourns Prof Okunola’s Death
The Deputy Chief Whip, State of Osun House Assembly, Hon. Abidemi Ogunkanmi has mourned the passage of a former chairman of Ayedire Local Government, Prof. Laide Okunola.
Okunlola, who was also a former Chairman of Governing Council of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 in Ileogbo, headquarters of Ayedire local government.
Ogunkanmi, in a condolence message today, commiserated with the entire Okunola’s family, Ileogbo Development Forum and the people of Ayedire LG over the demise of a ‘ great son of the soil’.
The lawmaker representing Ayedire State Constituency, urged the bereaved family to take solace in the fact that the late Okunola lived a fulfilled and memorable life.
He described the deceased as an epitome of honesty, dedication and selflessness, who used his elevated positions for the betterment of the people he served.
Ogunkanmi said Okunola lived for the good of others, saying that his legacy of standing for all that is right for humanity would be long remembered.
According to him, “Prof. Laide Philip Okunola, former chairman, Ayedire local government, was accomplished lecture at University of Lagos, a distinguished public servant, loving father, community leader, elder statesman and devout Christian, who devoted his life to the service of God and humanity.
“I want to express my sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and associates of the late Prof.Laide as well as members of the progressive community in Ayedire.
“While I pray to God to forgive his shortcomings and grant him hevean, I also pray He gives the rest of the family the much-needed strength and comfort to bear the loss.”
