Ojajuni: Police Deploy Tactical Team To Rescue Kidnapped Afenifere Youth Leader

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has intensified efforts to rescue Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was abducted on February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja.

In a decisive move, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has ordered the immediate deployment of the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) to prioritise his safe return.

This development comes amid a broader crackdown on organized crime across the country, with the police recording significant successes in the fight against kidnapping, banditry, and armed robbery.

A statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Wednesday, the NPF is deploying all necessary resources and expertise to ensure the swift rescue of Ojajuni.

The police also urged the public to avoid speculation and the spread of unverified information, which could compromise ongoing rescue operations.

The abduction of Prince Ojajuni, a prominent youth leader of the Afenifere socio-political group, has sparked nationwide concern, with various stakeholders calling for urgent intervention.

His kidnapping adds to the growing insecurity challenges in the country, particularly along major travel routes.

In related security operations, police operatives in Taraba and Oyo states have recorded notable successes in combating crime.

In Taraba, security forces raided a criminal hideout at Wamunchi dry season rice farms, leading to the arrest of 20 suspects and the recovery of firearms and other weapons. Also, a swift operation by the police and local security outfits in Oyo State, resulted in the rescue of three kidnapped victims abducted from the palace of Baale Tajudeen Inaolaji.

According to the statement, “Police operatives acting on credible intelligence, successfully stormed a criminal hideout in the Wamunchi dry season rice farms on February 26, 2025. The operation resulted in the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, the arrest of twenty (20) male suspects, and the recovery of one motorcycle, three Dane guns, and a bow and arrow.

“Meanwhile, in Oyo State, following a report of a kidnapping incident at Agede Village, Moniya, Ibadan on February 25 2025, a coordinated response by the tactical teams of the Oyo State Police Command, and local security outfits, resulted in the safe rescue of three abductees: Olori Hakimat Sadia, ‘F’ 50 yrs, Olori Rakyat ‘F’ 45 yrs, and Monsuru Ganiyu ‘M’ 20 yrs, who were all abducted from the palace of Baale Tajudeen Inaolaji on February 24 2025, by ten armed men, and the arrest of one of the abductors”.

The Inspector General of Police commended the bravery of officers involved in these successful operations and reaffirmed the commitment of the police force to ensuring the safety of all Nigerians.

As the search for Prince Ojajuni intensifies, the police have assured the public that no effort will be spared in bringing him home safely while continuing their relentless fight against criminal elements across the country.
