The Head of Service in the State of Osun, Dr. Oyebade Olowogboyega has espoused on the personality of Alhaji Adesina Fatai Kolawole, the Permanent Secretary, State of Osun Universal Basic Education Board at the turning of sod of the ministry of education (staff) cooperative investment & credit society limited located along Oba Adesoji Aderemi way, beside beloved of God filling Station, East bye pass, Osogbo.
This event was part of activities in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the cooperative society with Alhaji Fatai Kolawole being the president since inception.
While speaking at the unveiling and foundation laying of ultramodern events centre of Ministry of Education (Staff) CICS Ltd on Thursday, 25th of April, 2019 , Dr. Oyabade Olowogboyega described the Osun SUBEB boss as a man of many wings and a visionary leader who always bring unprecedented success to anywhere he finds himself, he concluded that such rare traits are evident from many achievements and seamless peace the cooperative society has enjoyed under his leadership.
The vice president of the cooperative society, Alhaji Oladele Adenle, said the journey so far in the last twenty years has been fantastic because Alhaji Fatai Kolawole, the president of the society, have been carrying the members along and that he always look for the progress of members and also fight for them when necessary. In his words” none of the members can say he or she regretted journey the society because it has always been from one achievement to another”.
This medium also spoke with the information officer of the cooperative society, Mr. Basiru Seriki and has this to say ” I can’t remember anybody that our president, Alhaji Fatai Adesina Kolawole had quarreled with since I knew him and I challenge anybody that has any quarrel with him to come forward to say it, have never seen any”.
He described he described Alhaji Fatai Kolawole as “a cool, humane and listening person who is always filled with milk of human kindness and ever ready to solve individual member’s problem no matter the prevailing circumstance “. He continued ” There is no doubting the fact that, it is only a special breed of person like him that is suitable cut out to manage the affairs of people close to 1,000 who’s membership cut across all Education Boards, Ministries, Parastatals, departments and other affiliates in the State, he concluded.
While responding to how he has successfully managed the society for that long, the president of the CICS Ltd, Alhaji Fatai Kolawole, gave all glory and adoration to Almighty Allah, admitting that it has not been easy especially from the start which was rough because of the nature of the cooperative which places limitation to membership as it is strictly for civil servants.
In his words ” you know the kind of wages we receive, it requires sacrifice for somebody to be ready to part ways with a fraction of that money to a purse he or she is not sure of”. He said what he and others did was to “build a brand that is credible and dependable that people can trust and once that trust is there, people came in droves from the initial 189 members to close to 1000 today”
Some notable achievements of the cooperative society under those years are: regular and adequate disbursement of loan to members to finance their children education and various projects e.g Housing, Poultry, Purchasing of car, Motorcycle; investment in reputable banks and companies; acquiring of 131 plots of land at Okinni; acquiring of 30plots of land at Ogo-Oluwa area of Osogbo for sale to members; purchase of 14 seater for the use of the society and hiring to generate income ; reduction of loan interest from 10% to 6.5%, regular and adequate disbursement of of loan among others.
