Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi has said there is no restriction for Hijab users from entering Bowen University, Iwo.
Oba Akanbi stated that there is no iota of truth in the rumour making the round that authority of the university disallowed intending Muslim JAMB candidates in hijab and community citizens in hijab from entering the school premises.
Oluwo described the information as raw and unfounded, noting that the school only place order for scrutiny of new visitors in hijab to identify themselves with their ID card and undergo facial check by their identical sex (female) to avoid impersonation and secure the school premises.
According to a statement made available by the palace press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, “Kabiesi has contacted the VC for clarification. There is no ban or restriction on hijab sisters at the university premises. Those using Hijab are only requested to present their ID and the school management has appointed identical sex (female) for facial confirmation by cross checking their face under Hijab and ensure it is the same as the one in the ID card”
“There are many Muslims in hijab working at Bowen. There has never been any barrier to their movement. They enjoy the same rights as Christians.
The authority is an advocate of religious tolerance. Intending JAMB candidates wishing to register in Bowen and preferred it as their centre should go ahead. You are free to enter the school. The authority will only check your face to secure the school and disallow impersonation”
The palace enjoined Muslim sisters and brothers to cooperate with the school management at ensuring a secured atmosphere for the students and staff of the university.
