The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the June 20 Ekiti State election, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has expressed shock over the omission of his name from the list of candidates recently published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Oluyede described INEC’s action as strange and unjustified, insisting that the electoral body lacked the authority to exclude his name, as there was no controversy surrounding the PDP primary election that produced him as a candidate.

Speaking at his country home in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, the medical professional said INEC monitored the party’s primary election, which he described as free, fair, and credible, with results duly declared in his favour.

According to him, the development has raised serious concerns, especially as some political parties that allegedly did not conduct primaries reportedly had their candidates’ names published by INEC.

Dr. Oluyede disclosed that he is currently consulting with the leadership of the party and other key stakeholders at both the state and national levels to determine the appropriate line of action on the matter.

Reaffirming his confidence in the PDP, Oluyede maintained that the party remains strong in Ekiti State and is well positioned to win the June 20 governorship election.

He urged party supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and loyal to the PDP, while calling on the people of Ekiti to resist what he described as an unfair and questionable decision by INEC.
