The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of qualified candidates for the Ekiti State governorship election scheduled for June 20, 2026, with the name of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede, conspicuously missing.

According to the list published by INEC, a total of 12 political parties will participate in the election. The parties include Accord, African Action Congress (AAC), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Progressives Congress (APC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Action Peoples Party (APP), Labour Party (LP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Young Progressives Party (YPP), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The final list contains the names of governorship candidates and their respective running mates. Among those listed are Falegan Opeyemi David (Accord), Akande Oluwaseun Samuel (AAC), Bejide Oluwadare Patrick (ADC), Oyebanji Abiodun Abayomi (APC), Osinkolu Olusegun Ayodele (YPP), and Abegunde Ayobami Blessing (NNPP), among others.

Reacting to the development, the spokesman for the PDP candidate, Mr. Gani Salau, disclosed that the party has approached the court to challenge the omission.

According to him, the PDP has filed two separate court actions: one seeking a stay of execution of the earlier court judgment, and another appealing the decision while urging INEC to publish the name of the party’s candidate ahead of the governorship election.
