Nigeria’s Odunayo Adekuoroye suffered a 10-8 defeat to China’s Hong Kexin in the women’s freestyle 57kg quarterfinals at the 2024 Olympic Games wrestling competition.
Adekuoroye, who beat Algerian Chaimaa Aouissi in the first round, was unable to overcome the Chinese wrestler, who dominated the second period to secure the win.
The Nigerian wrestler’s Olympic journey is not over yet, as she may still compete for a bronze medal in the repechage if Hong advances to the final.
This loss follows Nigeria’s earlier setback in the wrestling competition, when Ogunsanya was defeated in the opening bout.
