Ondo 2024: APC Screens Aiyedatiwa As Gov Says No Vacancy In Govt House
Ahead of the primary election to pick its candidate for the gubernatorial election in Ondo State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) screened the governor of the state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Friday.
The screening took place at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja.
Aiyedatiwa will lock horns with 15 other aspirants for the ticket of the APC for the November 16, 2024 election.
Fielding questions from newsmen after the screening, Aiyedatiwa said there is no vacancy at Government House, Akure.
The Governor noted that he was in control of the structure of the state.
Commenting on the controversy surrounding his WAEC certificate, the governor said those who say it was forged are mischief makers who needed to repent.
He said other aspirants were looking for ways to tarnish his name.
He said, “I will just advise them to repent and try to go to the field and work. They are interested in the seat, and the seat is not vacant, that is why they are trying to do all that they are doing.
“You see, we are all indigenes of Ondo State, and we are all qualified to run to be the governorship of Ondo State, but there is a sitting governor. I have the structures; the people, and the competence.”
The other aspirants are Senator Jimoh Ibrahim; Olusola Oke; Prof. Francis Faduyile; Dr Funmi Waheed-Adekojo,o and APC National Vice Chairman (South West), Isaac Kekemeke.
