Over 20 houses and properties worth millions was destroyed in a riverine town of Ugbo in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State over the weekend.
According to reports, the crisis which cost a man his life lasted for two days and was caused by a chieftaincy tussle between two royal families in the town.
The fighting followed attempts by one of the royal families in the town to challenge the selection and appointment of Oba Fredrick Obateru as the Olubo of Ugboland. The clash, sources said, was between supporters of Oba Obateru and a former occupant of the stool, Adebanjo Mafimisebi.
During the fracas that ensued, Daily Sun learnt that buildings, vehicles, boats and other valuables were set ablaze. It was gathered that a middle aged woman, Bidemi Mafimisebi, and others were injured during the clash.
