The Ondo State Government has declared 24-hour curfew in Ikare-Akoko, headquarters of Akoko North East Local, Following the crisis that broke out over Chieftancy tussle in the community.
The Ondo State Governor, Governor Okuwarotimi, who condemned killings and destruction of property by some youths in the community over the Olokoja Chieftaincy stool.
Recall that that four persons were killed in the community with properties destroyed over the chieftaincy tussle.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo, the curfew takes effect from 6.00pm on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.
He emphasized that security operatives had been deployed to the community with a mandate by the state government to enforce the curfew.
He added that anyone caught violating the order will face the full wrath of the law.
Similarly, the state government also ordered the immediate suspension of all activities relating to the Olokoja chieftaincy title.
“No one is permitted to parade himself as Olokoja or engage in promotional activities relating to the title in question.”
