Ondo Senator’s Aide Resigns Over Paltry N20,000 Monthly Salary
Tunbosun Awe, a ward liaison officer to Senator Olajide Ipinsagba, representing Ondo North Senatorial District, has resigned from his position, citing a meager monthly salary of N20,000.
In his resignation letter released on Wednesday, Awe stated that the salary is no longer sustainable given the current economic realities in the country and falls short of the national minimum wage of N70,000.
“This is sequel to the N20,000 monthly salary payment to me, which is against the present economic realities and a far cry from the national minimum wage of N70,000,” Awe said.
According to Awe, he had repeatedly sought an audience with Senator Ipinsagba to request a salary increase, but his efforts were unsuccessful.
“In addition, an audience had been sought with you at different intervals of the need to increase the pay, all to no avail. Especially, when it is fully established with you that N20,000 is the same amount you offered me as your personal assistant in 2007,” he stated.
Awe also mentioned that his relationship with the senator dates back to 2006 when he served as the secretary of Ipinsagba’s campaign group.
“Destiny brought us together in 2006, when your Senatorial bid was birthed with the caption, Concept 2007, while I served as the secretary of your campaign structure in Ondo North Senatorial District,” he added.
In his letter, Awe further expressed gratitude to Senator Ipinsagba for the opportunities provided during his tenure.
