An elderly in Igbotako in the Okitipupa Local government area of Ondo State has consented to trading her votes for money in the ongoing governorship election in the State.

The woman who was in the company of other women was interviewed in Yoruba language on the conduct of the election by a TVC News correspondent.

She replied by saying: “We have voted and the election went smoothly. No fight, no form of crises or violence. All of us have voted and collected money”.

But she was sharply interrupted by the younger women not to talk about the money.

Osun Defender earlier reported that some party members allegedly belonging to the All Progressives Congress, were caught engaging in vote buying in the same Okitipupa local government area.

The party members were caught on camera handing over some Naira notes to voters after confirming they had voted.

Seen in the video was an exercise book which was believed to contain the list of voters waiting to be paid or who have been paid after voting.

Challenged by a man believed to be a security operative on why they are handing out cash to voters, the APC party members led by a man in his fifties denied the allegation, trying to woo him into settlements.

Also, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Bamidele Akingbola, had alleged that some political parties are involved in vote buying in the ongoing election.

The candidate spoke after he voted, saying some voters were being induced to pick some parties.
