One person has been confirmed dead as Oyo State Government confirmed 23 cholera cases.
The announcement was made by the state Commissioner for Health, Oluwasherimi Ajetumobi, on Tuesday during a briefing with newsmen at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, following the weekly Executive Council Meeting.
According to Ajetumobi, a total of 245 suspected cholera cases were reported between January 1 and October 7, 2024, with 23 of them confirmed.
He further explained that the single death recorded involved a patient who had been transferred from Lagos.

He said, “A total number of 245 suspected cases of the dreaded cholera disease was reported between January 1 to October 7, 2024 with 23 cases confirmed while only one death was recorded during the period.
“The only death recorded was a patient brought from Lagos. Nine patients, currently on admission at the Infectious Disease Centre, Olodo, Ibadan are responding to treatment and will soon be discharged.”
