Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II has donated four Motorised Modular Fumigators to Nasarawa and Plateau states as part of his personal efforts in curtailing the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Oba Ogunwusi had promised to be donating two modular motorized fumigators to each of the 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory.
The frontline traditional ruler has donated the fumigators to all the South-West states before extending the gesture to the northern part of the country.
Receiving two fumigators on Monday in Jos, Plateau State Governor, Hon. Simeon Lalong described Ooni as a true traditional ruler of the Nigerian masses who has not failed in his responsibility as Co-Chairman, National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria(NCTRN).
Lalong, who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Professor Danladi Atu said: “Ooni is a true Nigerian leader to the core. We have been watching him since he was enthroned five years ago. He has indeed so far demonstrated exemplary benevolent leadership, always supporting the government and people of this great country.
“The government and the good people of Plateau State find these fumigators very apt and useful to us at this point and we are going to make use of them judiciously. If we have several leaders like the Ooni, Nigeria will be great.”
Equally, the Nasarawa State Government had last Friday received two Motorised Modular Fumigators from Ooni.
The donation was made by the Asoya of Ile-Isoya, Oba Muraina Adedini on behalf of Oba Ogunwusi at the Banquette Hall of the Government House in Lafia.
In his introductory speech, the Ooni’s Director of Media & Public Affairs, Comrade Moses Olafare explained that the monarch has donated the items to support Nasarawa State Government in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic and in fulfillment of his free donations of 2 modular motorized fumigators to each of the 36 states of Nigeria and Abuja FCT.
Receiving the fumigator on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Sule, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, who doubles as the Chairman, COVID-19 Task Force in the State lauded Oba Ogunwusi for his contribution to stemming the tide of the virus in the state.
