OPC Gets New President
The Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) has elected a new president for the Congress.
Although it was later factionalized, OPC was founded by Dr. Frederick Fasehun who was its President until his death.
The new president has vowed to tackle the insecurity problems facing the Nigeria states by working with the state and non-state agencies.
In a statement made available by the newly elected President of the group loyal to Dr. Frederick Fasehun, the new president is Wasiu Afolabi.
He said, “We noted that the job of tackling insecurity of a country doesn’t belong to security agencies only, OPC is fully and battled ready to fight alongside with other recognised group in a bid to end insecurity.
Wasiu said, “Today, we collectively make history for the very first time in the 26 years of our history, this distinguished and reputable gathering has democratically elected new leaders for our great organisation.
“We are proud to say everything is in line with the constitution of the organization. We promise that OPC shall stand for the welfare and well-being of OPC members under our watch, we shall uphold the discipline tendency and care about the prosperity of all members and shall fulfil its mandate to fight for the protection of Yoruba interest, Yoruba land and Yoruba people”.
Wasiu implored all members across board to cooperate with the new leadership and do their best for the growth and progress of the organization.
