The Osun State Governorship Campaign Council of the African Democratic Congress (ADC-GCC) has called on the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, to ensure that opposition parties enjoy the same peaceful atmosphere he received during a recent visit to Ejigbo.

In a statement issued on Thursday by its spokesperson, Hon. Nurein Adebisi, the ADC-GCC described Oyebamiji’s reception in Ejigbo as an example of how political activities should be conducted ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

According to the council, residents and supporters welcomed the APC aspirant peacefully, without violence, hostility or disruption, demonstrating what he described as political maturity and respect for democratic engagement.

“The reception you received in Ejigbo yesterday tells the real story of how things should be. They came out in peace, with drums and dignity, not with guns, stones or insults,” the statement read.

The ADC-GCC said the peaceful outing should not be treated as an isolated event but rather as a standard for political conduct across the state.

The campaign council specifically urged Oyebamiji and his supporters to extend similar courtesy to rival political parties, including the ADC, whenever they hold campaign activities in other parts of Osun.

It particularly referenced Ikire, where it said opposition candidates and their supporters should be allowed to campaign freely without intimidation, harassment, blocked venues or attacks by political thugs.

“We advise you to learn from Ejigbo and protect that legacy. Extend the same courtesy to other opponents. Allow the ADC candidate and team the same peaceful atmosphere anytime they visit Ikire. No harassment, no blocked venues, no political thuggery, no intimidation. Just ideas versus ideas,” the statement said.

The ADC-GCC maintained that peaceful campaigns would strengthen democracy and promote political tolerance among parties and their supporters.

It added that political leaders would be remembered for choosing dialogue and maturity over violence and intimidation.

“Let Ejigbo be the standard, not the exception,” the statement added
