OSCOTECH Appoints Adewumi Acting Rector

The Governing Council of Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke, has announced the appointment of Mr. Sefiu Adebowale Adewumi as the Acting Rector of the institution.

His appointment followed the retirement of the immediate past substantive Rector of the institution, Dr. Samson Adegoke, who left service after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 65 years and served as Rector of the polytechnic for almost 8 years.

Adewumi’s appointment was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of the Council, Prince Diran Odeyemi, a copy obtained by OSUN DEFENDER on Tuesday in Osogbo.

Adewumi, according to the state, is, as an academic of note, a seasoned administrator with vast experience in manpower and resources management.

The Council said Adewumi is to act as Rector until further directive is given.

Assuring the new acting rector of the support of the council, Odeyemi said the institution would continue to pursue legacies of excellence in innovation that has set it apart from the rest.

“The Council has unanimously approved the appointment of Mr. Sefiu Adebowale Adewumi as the Acting Rector.

“Adewumi, until his current appointment, has served the polytechnic in various capacities, including occupying with distinction the post of Deputy Rector.

“He is a seasoned scholar and an administrator per excellence with relevant experience in modern-day management of manpower and material resources for the attainment of organisational goal in a competitive academic environment.

“He is succeeding Dr. Samson Adegoke, who has retired after reaching retirement age of 65 years.

“Adewumi is to serve for now in Acting capacity until further directive is given,” the statement by the Council Chairman, Odeyemi, partly read.
