OSHIA Distributes Medical Equipment To Govt Hospitals In Osun

In a bid to strengthen the capacity of its healthcare providers to deliver qualitative services to its enrollees, the Osun Health Insurance Agency (OSHIA), on Wednesday distributed machines and other important medical equipment to government hospitals in Osun State.

Some of the equipment distributed by the agency at the event held at the OHIS Secretariat, Abere, includes the Dental Ultrasonic Machine for S&P, Wheelchairs, Delivery Couch, Operating Couch, Spectrophotometer, Phototherapy for Neonate, Suctioning machine and a host of others.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ademola Adeleke who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alh. Teslim Igbalaye, stated that his administration is committed to providing affordable healthcare for the people of the state.

Adeleke, who said his administration since inception has given adequate attention to the health sector, promised to fully support the agency in realising its mandate.

He said, “We will continue to ensure that Osun people have access to quality and affordable healthcare, irrespective of their socio-economic status.”

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Health, Barr. Jola Akintola, said the government as part of its mandate will continue to initiate programmes and policies that will guarantee the healthy living of the people.

Akintola urged all benefiting hospitals to judiciously utilise the equipment in providing excellent service delivery to their patients.

He said: “It is important to also note that the distribution of these quality improvement materials signifies our unwavering commitment to advancing healthcare excellence, as these materials have been meticulously curated to equip our healthcare providers with the tools and resources necessary to deliver high-quality care to every enrollee/patient they serve.

“These qualities are the foundation upon which we build a healthier and more resilient society.

“Consequent upon the foregoing, therefore, we encourage all benefiting facilities to reciprocate this kind gesture of the agency by ensuring that these materials translate into qualitative service delivery to residents of the state.”

The Executive Secretary, Osun Health Insurance Agency OSHIA, Dr. Rasaq Akindele, in an earlier remark, noted that the distribution of the equipment is to assist government hospitals and healthcare providers to provide the best service to the agency’s enrollees.

Akindele said that in no distant time, the gesture will be extended to the healthcare providers in the private sector.

He also noted that the agency is working round the clock to facilitate the support of development partners, especially international agencies to further boost the capacity of the agency.

“Before I resumed six months ago, we had 13,000 informal enrolees, and added 9,000 enrolees l to it in 6 months. Our target is to reach the 1 million mark by December, 2024. We also had the milestone enrolment of over 23,000 pensioners into the health insurance scheme as directed by Mr. Governor to enjoy free medical care.”
