Osimhen’s Market Value Drops From €120m To €75m – Report
Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has seen a decline in his market value, but he remains Nigeria’s most valuable player and one of Africa’s top football exports.
According to football statistics website Transfermarkt, Osimhen is now valued at €75m, down from a career-high of around €120m during his time at Napoli in Italy.
The data highlights the 26-year-old’s journey from Germany to Europe’s elite leagues. Osimhen began his European career at Wolfsburg, where his market value was just over €1m.
Struggling for game time in the Bundesliga, he moved to Charleroi in Belgium, where strong performances doubled his value.
A move to Lille in France marked a breakthrough. Within a single season, his impressive performances in Ligue 1 and the Europa League pushed his value to around €50m, attracting attention from Europe’s top clubs.
His transfer to Napoli in 2020 gave his market value a major boost. Over three seasons, Osimhen became one of Europe’s most prolific strikers, leading Napoli to their first Serie A title in over 30 years.
His consistent goal-scoring and explosive style saw his value soar past €100m, peaking at €120m in 2023—the highest ever for a Nigerian player.
However, 2024 brought a notable decline. Reduced playing time due to injuries, transfer uncertainties, and Napoli’s inconsistent season contributed to a drop in his valuation.
His permanent move to Galatasaray this year, following an initial loan spell, further stabilised his market value at around €75m.
Despite the dip, Osimhen remains one of Africa’s most valuable footballers, second only to Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi. He still outranks top African stars such as Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmous.
For Nigerian football, Osimhen’s journey—from humble beginnings to becoming a €120m player—remains a symbol of hope and a testament to the country’s growing influence on the global stage.
