Osinbajo Decorates Acting IGP Usman Alkali
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo will decorate Usman Alkali Baba with his new rank of inspector-general of police on Wednesday afternoon.
Recall that Osun Defender had yesterday reported that President Muhammadu Buhari surprisingly removed Mohammed Adamu as the IGP before the expiration of his tenure extension.
He had been due for retirement in February, but he got a three-month extension.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi conveyed the decision of the president to the public while addressing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Wednesday.
Since Baba’s appointment is subject to approval by the senate, he will hold the position in an acting position until confirmed.
Other top government officials present at the decoration ceremony include the former IGP, Mohammed Adamu, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha, the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu and his colleague in the office of the Vice President, Laolu Akande, and others.
