OSPOLY Has Developed Robust Staff Development Policy – Rector

Rector, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Dr. Jacob Agboola, has explained that the institution has developed robust staff development policy for the training of academic and non-academic staff.

At a press conference for the combined 6th convocation conference recently, he said, in the last one year, 14 members of staff have bagged their PhDs in local and foreign universities and this has been a trend since 2013.

The rector disclosed that the institution initially took off with eight programmes in two faculties at Pre- ND and HND levels, but it has now increased to 41 programmes, 39 of which have received full accreditation, while two are on resource accreditation by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Kaduna.

By this, he said the polytechnic is one of the state polytechnics in Nigeria with the highest number of accredited programmes.

Agboola stated that the institution secured re-accreditation for 38 programmes in 2016 and fresh accreditation to mount National Diploma programme in Arts and Design, welding and fabrication, Agricultural and Bio Environmental Technology.

“The institution is in the process of commencing National Diploma programmes in Agricultural Technology and Fashion Design and Clothing Technology, the request for interim accreditation is currently, with the NBTE.

“The institutions collaboration with Sussex University in United Kingdom, USAIS/WINROCK International, Network for Agricultural and Technical Education in Nigeria (NATEN), Virginia State University (VSU) United States of America, Karazin Khakin University, Ukraine, Manitoba University, Canada in the areas of Agricultural education technology, curriculum design and innovation, especially in science and engineering has continued to yield dividends”

“The institution acquired and fully paid for 117 Acres of the land in Oogogo at its third campus; this is in addition to the main campus and the school of part time programmes in Koko which is serving as the college of Agriculture of the polytechnic”.
