Osun State Polytechnic, Iree will hold its its combined 7th convocation ceremony on Thursday, tomorrow.

The Polytechnic Rector, Dr Woye Olaniran in a press conference in Osogbo, stated that no less than 14,000 students will be graduate in the institution.

According to Olaniran, “Activities marking the ceremony included a football match, Convocation lecture on a global trending issue: “Green Entrepreneurial Intentions and Business Sustainability in Post COVID-19 Pandemic Era: Issues and Challenges,” to be delivered by a professor of Human Resources from the Faculty of Management Science, Osun State University, Osogbo.

“The grand finale will be on Thursday, May 26, where Diplomas and certificates would be awarded to graduands.

Reeling out giant strides since the inception of his administration on July 1, 2019, Olaniran said the polytechnic has witnessed tremendous developments in infrastructure, students and staff welfare and academic standard.

He said, some programmes run by the institution were accredited and that three projects including Engineering Lecture Theatre, Computer Science Building Complex and Arts & Industrial Design Building Complex were completed among other projects and to be commissioned by the state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola during the ceremony.

“It’s on record that since my assumption of office, the institution has witnessed peace and tranquility. The polytechnic has not experienced any rift between the staff and management. This is as a result of regular payment of emoluments and allowances of all categories of staff as and when due. This has really created a good working condition and encouragement for the workers.

“I have indeed given uncommon priority to the welfare of both staff and students which has facilitated the relative peace enjoyed by stakeholders in the Polytechnic community. I however attribute the regular payment of salary and emoluments to Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s welfarist administration in the state.

“I will not relent in my efforts at transforming the institution and making it to be an enviable citadel of learning in Nigeria. Efforts are on top gear to affiliate tye institution to Degree Awarding Universities in Nigeria and beyond,” the Rector noted.

He added that the institution is first in the country that produced hand sanitizer during the COVID-19 pandemic adding that many products of the polytechnic have excelled in their various callings.
