OSPOLY One of State Polytechnics With Highest Number of Accredited Programmes – Rector

The Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, OSPOLY, Dr Jacob Agboola, has disclosed that the institution is one of the State Polytechnics in the country with the highest number of accredited programmes.
Agboola said this at the press conference heralding the combined 6th convocation ceremony for graduands of 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 academic sessions on Monday.
He stated that the institution initially took off with eight programmes in two faculties at Pre-ND, ND and HND but had increased to 42 programmes, 39 of which have received full accreditation while two are on resource accreditation.
Listing the achievements of the institution over the years, Agboola added that the vision of the institution is to be one for the acquisition of modern technology in producing graduates with knowledge and skill.
According to him, “The institution secured re-accreditation for 38 programmes in 2016 and fresh accreditation to mount National Diploma programmes in Arts and Design, Welding and Fabrication and Agricultural and Bio-environmental Technology.
“The present administration has got rid of certificate racketeering, the institution’s admission is now transparent and devoid of any shady deals. The institution has acquired and fully paid for one hundred and seventeen acres of land in Oogogo as its third campus.
“This is in addition to the main campus and the school of Part-Time programmes in Koko. This campus is serving as the College of Agriculture, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree. There has also been the completion of a modern auditorium of 500 seating capacity, extension of the health center, construction of Arts and Design complex, construction of the library complex with e-library facilities among others.”
Agboola also highlighted some of the programmes slated for the convocation which included the convocation lecture on Wednesday and the award of certificates to graduates on Thursday.
Other activities of the press conference included a facility tour where the institution’s public relation officer, Mr Tope Abiola showed journalists the Daily Part Time school, newly built blocks equipped with facilities, health center, the institution’s modern ICT centers, among others.
