Governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the September 22 governorship election in Osun, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti has condemned the weekend attacks on members of his party in some parts of the state.
His reaction was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Publicity and Media Director of Moshood Adeoti Campaign Organization (MACO), Kayode Agbaje.
The governorship candidate wondered why gruesome attacks on members of the ADP by some unscrupulous elements have in recent times become the order of the day.
These bad eggs, according to Adeoti, are believed to have been sent by some politicians who are currently feeling jittery about the rising profile of the party among residents and indigenes of the state.
In Alhaji Adeoti’s opinion, the attacks are signals of what to expect once full political campaigns kick-off, as some politicians have become bad losers, even before the election.
He therefore charged various officers and men of the security agencies in the state state to rise up to the occasion, arrest the perpetrators of the attacks and their sponsors with a view to making them face the full wrath of the law.
The ADP governorship candidate however charged members of the party not to be discouraged but see the development as a a good omen of the party’s soaring popularity among members of the electorate.
“The day of reckoning is fast-approaching and some politicians and their supporters are already becoming bad losers,” Alhaji Adeoti stressed.
It was reported that some members of the ADP were attacked recently, including the immediate-past Executive Secretary of Oriade Local Government Council Area of the state, Taiwo Fatiregun, while one Debo Iyanda was also brutally attacked in Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Council Area.
In a related development, another prominent member of the ADP in Ilesa, Sayo Abimbola and some members of his political group have been arrested and detained for daring to remove a billboard erected for Governor Rauf Aregbesola during his re-election in 2014.
