The Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Oyedotun has charged the governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure that the party’s candidate for the next Governorship election emerge from a credible primary that will be seen to be transparent by all party members.
The Monarch commended Aregbesola for providing quality educational infrastructure among other interventions projects in the state.
Orangun admonished that selection of the flag bearer should not only be seen as being credible, but transparent enough to majority of members.
He posited that if the party and its leadership avoid imposition and bring forward a candidate that will be accepted by all, victory for the progressives in the state is certain.
“I must state here that APC remains the party to beat in the coming gubernatorial elections, but the party must be careful in the choice of candidate to be presented for elections. As long as they avoid imposition in the choice of candidate there won’t be problem for the party in the election because Aregbesola has done remarkably well for the coast to be clear for victory in the poll.
“Aregbesola’s contribution to the growth and development of Osun is unrivalled and we thank God for the manner in which he steered the ship of this state especially in the area of schools and other infrastructural development”. The monarch stated.
Earlier, governor Aregbesola charged party members not to allow aspirants in the party to divide them, saying a lot of people will be coming out to aspire for the post of governor.
He noted that the visit is a wake-up call to members of the APC in the constituency, saying as the September date of the election approaches, all members of the party must rise to the challenge of making the party win the Governorship election.
Aregbesola pointed out that with all the achievements of his administration, people of the town must ensure that the good work started by him must not be left to people who will drive the state back to the dark ages of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun and Nigeria.
The governor held that the APC team was in Ila town as it has been doing to other federal constituency, urging the monarch to use the opportunity of the visit to pray for the party in the state for progress.
According to the governor, “We are here to sensitize our party members to serious party work and stimulate the citizenry at large to the need to be sensitive to the machinations and intrigues of the opposition parties who had had the opportunity to rule the state but failed woefully.
“We have reminded our party loyalists on the fact that we have had the experience of this same people several times before our emergence and that our records are their to compare and contrast with their own.
“We are by far different and much more impactful on the lives of our people as our performance on ground is incomparable with any government before our emergence.
”We have appealed to our people to work together in unison to ensure that our party remains the political party to beat in any election”, Aregbesola added.
