As the Osun governorship election is fast approaching, politics is fast tearing the unity within the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcyclist Riders (ACMR), Ile Ife branch, apart.
Some commercial motorcyclists who craved anonymity on Wednesday evening raised alarm that there are threats to their lives.
The motorcyclists disclosed that crisis started when the leadership of ACMR Ile Ife branch led by Mr Tunde Akanbi, instructed all members to support Senator Iyiola Omisore as their governorship candidate.
Those who are supporting the Peoples Democratic Party’s Gbenga Owolabi as their governorship candidate and others washed their hands off, saying they can not bow down for the intimidation of their leadership.
Our correspondent learnt that the motorcyclists who are not in support of the agenda of their leadership clashed with some of the supporters of the leadership agenda during a meeting held on Monday.
It was learnt that scores of motorcycle riders who rejected the leadership agenda sustained various degree of injuries during the clash.
However, the motorcycle riders who are not in support of the agenda told our correspondent that they have been threatening to kill them since they declared no support to the leadership agenda.
In a phone conversation with our correspondent, the chairman of ACMR Ile Ife branch, Mr Tunde Akanbi, debunked the allegations, saying, they are only meant to discredit his administration.
