Osun 2018: Politics Tears Ile Ife NURTW Apart

By Adefioye Olawumi

With the Osun governorship election six months away, crisis is brewing in National Union Of Transport Workers (NURTW), Ife branch over the selection of who to support as the next Governor of the state.

Sources revealed to our correspondent that the union Chairman, Alh Isiaka Olatunbosun had advised the transport workers to work for Senator Iyiola Omisore.

Transport workers told our reporter that following the chairman’s advice, there have been series of fractions in the union that have started to root for several governorship candidates.

At recent meetings of the transport workers, it was learnt supporters of Omisore and some supporters of Chief Gbenga Owolabi, the Oluomo of Ife clashed, leading to scores injured.

It was also gathered that the support for Omisore was based on the criteria that he has money to oil the supporters from Ife/Ijesa district where he hails.
