Osun 2026: 12 Political Parties To Adopt Consensus Candidate

Twelve (12) political parties in Osun State have agreed to work together and adopt a single consensus candidate for the August 08, gubernatorial election.

The resolution was reached on Friday, January 10, 2026, at a meeting held in Osogbo, Osun State.

Political parties present at the meeting include the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP),
Action Democratic Party (ADP), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Young Progressives Party (YPP), along with other participating political parties.

A communiqué, signed by the aforementioned parties’ chairmen, a copy made available to the press noted that the parties, at the meeting, unanimously agreed on the need to pool their strength, resources, and political influence behind one candidate who, by collective support, stands a strong chance of emerging as the next Governor of Osun State.

The alliance, according to them, aims to present a formidable and united front in the upcoming election.
