Osun 2026: Adeleke Quits PDP
  • PublishedDecember 2, 2025

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

According to a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke left the party since November 4, 2025.

The letter was addressed to the PDP Chairman for ward 2, Sagba Abogunde of
Ede North Local government, Osun State.

The letter reads as follows: “Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect.

“I thank the People’s Democratic Party for the opportunities given to me for my elections as a Senator (Represented Osun West) and as Governor of Osun State under the People’s Democratic Party”, the governor noted in the letter personally signed by him.

Osun Defender reports that the PDP has been in a turmoil over its leadership at the national level.

It would be recalled that Governor Adeleke did not attend the November 15 convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In the last few days, media reports have been rife over the governor’s possible movement to the Accord Party, as the only viable option for him to participate in the August 8, 2026 governorship election, after his purported planned defection to the All Progressives Congress, was botched earlier in the year.
