Osun state chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has warned the general public to beware of some people going around claiming they have been anointed by the party as the sole candidate for the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
The chairman of the party in Osun, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, in a statement on Monday, said the window of the party is widely open for individuals willing to contest the election against the sitting governor, Ademola Adeleke.
He noted that, at no point, did the State Executive Council of the party sit to anoint or announce anybody as a preferred candidate as this negates the principle of fairness being known with NNPP.
His statement reads, “It has come to the notice of our great party, NNPP, that some individuals are going around claiming we have anointed somebody as a sole candidate for the Osun 2026 gubernatorial election.

“The claim is not only misleading but false. At no point have we sat as a body to announce this so-called resolution. We like to make it clear that the National Body of our party just released the timetable for the activities towards this election which we will follow accordingly.
“Any individual that wishes to contest under our party should come out, notify the state executive of his or her intention and get prepared to contest in our open primary on December 13, 2025 as been released by the party leadership.
“I hereby call on the members of the public to disregard any insinuation contrary to the earlier stated and see any individual parading him or herself as our sole candidate for now as a fraudster and impostor”
