Osun 2026: Omisore Shades APC Aspirants
- I’m A Better Guber Material Than Oyebamiji, Babayemi, Others
A former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has claimed that some of the people who urged him to contest next year’s gubernatorial election are better than some of the aspirants who have shown interest within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Omisore stated this while addressing the All Progressives Congress Local Government Vice Chairmen in Osogbo on Wednesday.
The former lawmaker who represented Osun East at the Nigerian Senate said he was initially skeptical about joining the gubernatorial race, thinking that the immediate past governor of the state, Mr Gboyega Oyetola, would recontest.
He said, “When the race started, I was very careful until former governor Gboyega Oyetola said he was no longer interested.
“After careful consideration, without sounding immodest, I looked at those who have come out to declare their ambition, and I realised that some of the people who even came to ask me to contest are better materials than the other aspirants.”
Omisore charged the Vice Chairmen to make the right decision when it is time to elect the person who will fly the banner of the APC in the August 08, 2026 election.
“Democracy is a game of numbers. Also, we have the opportunity to make decisions either right or wrong. However, anyone who makes a wrong decision will suffer the consequences alone.
“So, my question to you, vice chairmen, is whether you want a governor in your state or a candidate? The two are different, and the way people in the two categories think differs.
“The moment you start deceiving yourself, your downfall is near. I know some people have been promised some positions by some aspirants,” he added.
