The former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has accused the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, of masterminding the disqualification of him and six other gubernatorial aspirants for the Osun State election.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that Omisore, alongside other aspirants, including the immediate past deputy governor of Osun, Benedict Alabi, Osogbo-born lawyer, Kunle Adegoke SAN, former Senator, Babajide Omoworare, Prince Dotun Babayemi, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi and Babatunde Oralusi, were disqualified by the screening committee which said the aspirants failed to meet up with some requirements.

The screening committee only cleared former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Dr Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and former Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority, Bola Oyebamiji, who was said to have the backing of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola.

In a video obtained by OSUN DEFENDER, Omisore, who was flanked by Alabi, Ogunbiyi, Adegoke, Omoworare and Oralusi, alleged that the panel chairman confirmed that he was pressured by Oyetola to disqualify them.

He described the screening committee report as a joke taken too far.

He said, “The panel report is the jokest of 2025. It is quite unfortunate that people are taking partisanship beyond politics. The committee wrote three contradictory reports—one to the secretary, one to the leadership, and another somewhere else.

“As we speak today, none of my colleagues have seen their report – where and why we were disqualified. When you disqualified people like us from any contest, where do you go from there? Infact, you are pointing at failure.

“The chairman of the panel, on the first day, reached out to us that Mr Gboyega Oyetola called him that he must disqualify all of us because his poster boy, Bola Oyebamiji, is the one he wants.

“We’ve met the appeal panel, and I asked them what the basis for our disqualification was. So, they only two person met the requirements? They should have used another method.”
