Osun ADC Chair Defends Omoluabi Progressives, Slams APC Over Mockery
Osun State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Charles Omidiji, has defended the Omoluabi Progressives following criticisms from the All Progressives Congress (APC) over its comments on delayed local government allocations in the state.
Reacting to what he described as “mockery” from the APC, Dr Omidiji said the ruling party’s remarks were borne out of political frustration and an attempt to divert public attention from its internal crises and leadership inconsistencies.
In a statement personally signed by him on Saturday, the ADC Chairman described the Omoluabi Progressive Group as a recognised and loyal stakeholder within the party.
He noted that the group has remained one of the most active coalitions working with the ADC leadership to promote the party’s ideals of transparency, accountability and good governance.
“The Omoluabi Progressive Group has always demonstrated commitment, discipline and loyalty to the ADC. Their position on the local government allocation issue reflects their passion for transparency and accountability, which are values the ADC stands for. The APC’s attempt to ridicule such a patriotic intervention only exposes their growing disconnect from the people,” he said.
Dr. Omidiji also advised the APC to focus on resolving its internal challenges rather than meddling in the affairs of other political parties.
He said the APC should concentrate on addressing issues such as leadership crises, irregularities in delegate lists and divisions across its local government structures.
“It is laughable that a party struggling with internal wrangling and accusations of unjustly removing its loyal members from delegate lists would have the audacity to comment on the affairs of a stable and united party like the ADC. The APC should face its business and stop interfering in other people’s matters,” he added.
Reaffirming the unity of the ADC in Osun, Dr Omidiji dismissed reports of division within the party as false and politically motivated.
He maintained that the ADC remains one indivisible family working under a single structure to strengthen its political influence in the state.
“The ADC in Osun State is solidly united. There is no faction or disunity among our apex leaders or coalition partners. We are all working together to reposition the party for greater political impact and to serve the people of Osun better,” he stated.
He commended all coalition groups and stakeholders under the ADC for their continued cooperation and commitment to promoting the party’s ideology of integrity, inclusiveness and people-centred governance.
“Under the ADC, every coalition group — including the Omoluabi Progressive Group — enjoys mutual respect, recognition and collaboration. Together, we are building a strong foundation that will redefine Osun’s political landscape,” he said.
Dr. Omidiji urged members and supporters of the ADC to remain steadfast and united, assuring them that the party remains the most credible alternative for good governance and responsible leadership in Osun State.
