The Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Olubiyi Fadeyi, has lost the ticket to return to the Red Chamber in 2027.
Fadeyi popularly known as Ajagunla in 2025 alongside the Senator representing Osun East, Francis Fadahunsi, and three House of Representatives lawmakers – Sanya Omirin, Wole Oke and Taofeek Ajilesoro, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party where they were elected and joined the All Progressives Congress.
Meanwhile, the result of the senatorial primaries conducted across the three senatorial districts of Osun State on Monday, announced by the APC, Barrister Kunle Adegoke (SAN), popularly known as K-Rad, was declared the winner for Osun Central after defeating the incumbent senator.
Rasheed Adegoke, SAN, polled 26,655 votes, while Olubiyi Fadeyi received 13,138 votes.
Others who contested the ticket in the zone are Barrister Yomi Ogunwale who scored 2,925,
Akintunde Adegboye, 342 votes and Olu Fakeye who got 067 votes.
For Osun East Senatorial District, the current lawmaker, Senator Francis Fadahunsi secured the party’s ticket, emerging victorious in the primary election.
Fadahunsi scored 23,593 votes to defeat his opponents, Mr Ademurewa Isreal and Mr Thomas Ogungbange who got 472 and 806 votes respectively.
Meanwhile, in Osun West Senatorial District, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi was announced as the winner of the APC senatorial primary.
Ogunbiyi scored 30,568 votes, while Gafar Akintayo scored 1,215 votes, with Peter Ogundeji, who had earlier announced his withdrawal from the race, getting 14 votes.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that Fadeyi was the only lawmaker who was not returned out of the five who defected to the APC.
