Some operatives of the Osun State Command of the Amotekun Corps have been reportedly attacked in Kajola village along Osogbo/Ilesa Road by some suspected herders.
The spokesperson for the Corps, Idowu Yusuff, who confirmed the attack, said some farmers had lodged complaints against herders grazing cows on their farms in the area.
According to Yusuf, upon getting the information, operatives were immediately deployed to the area, adding that the herders fired shots at the Amotekun operatives once they saw them coming.
He added that because the gunshots they fired did not stop the Amotekun operatives from advancing towards the herders, they signalled their cows to attack the men, during which three of the men were injured.
He said, “The incident happened last week Saturday but our men that were injured are still on admission to hospital presently.
“We got complaints from farmers in Kajola, a village along Osogbo/Ilesa road that herders were destroying their farms and we immediately deployed to the area.
“When the men got to the area, they were shot at by the herders, who carried guns. But our men kept advancing towards them. When they saw that bullets could not stop those coming to arrest them, they signalled their cows to attack Amotekun men.
“In that melee, three of our men were injured. They are still on admission as we speak. The herders fled into the bush and left their cows. Normalcy has returned to the area.”
