- You Were Brought For PDP Dirty Politics In Osun – APC To NULGE President
- Your Baseless Allegations Display Of Irrational Political Desperation – ALGON Replies APC
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Association of Local Government chairmen elected under the Peoples Democratic Party have traded words over the visit of the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Local Government (NULGE) to the state.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that the leadership of NULGE, led by its national president, Comrade Aliyu Haruna Kankara, visited Governor Ademola Adeleke on Friday while the association threw its weight behind the ongoing sit-at-home by local government staff in the state.
Reacting to the visit, APC, in a statement by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, accused the NULGE president and his team of playing dirty politics in Osun.
The statement said the National NULGE, for pecuniary gains, should not be tempted or rammed to be on the other side of the law of the country.
“It is imperative to educate the national President of NULGE, Comrade Aliyu Haruna Kankara, who we are aware was recently elected into the office, not to be hoodwinked by the Osun State government to lead his executive members into an unholy and perfidious alliance with the state government of Osun under the pretence that all is well with the NULGE in the state.
“It is necessary for Comrade Kankara to refuse to be misled by the administration of Governor Adeleke, which can corrupt the holiest of the Angels, in order to ensure that the rule of law is stabbed on the head without minding the negative consequences.
“The National NULGE, for pecuniary gains, should not be tempted or rammed to be on the other side of the law of the country. Encouraging brazen disobedience to the Court of Appeal judgement will have grave and unmitigated consequences on the integrity of the NULGE”, the statement noted.
But in a swift reaction, Chairmen elected under the PDP said APC’s aspersions on the integrity of the NULGE National President was nothing short of a display of irrational political desperation.

In a statement by the chairman of Ifelodun local government who doubles as the state ALGON chairman,
Sarafadeen Awotunde said the NULGE National President supporting the continued stay-at-home by local government workers was a clear vindication of the responsible and lawful approach adopted by Adeleke.
The statement further read, “The attention of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State Chapter, has been drawn to a baseless and laughable press release issued by Mr. Kola Olabisi – the unconstitutional Director of Media and Information of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State concerning the recent visit of the National President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Aliyu Haruna Kankara and his endorsement of the ongoing stay-at-home action by local government workers across the state.
“We wish to categorically state that the position of the NULGE National President, validating the continued stay-at-home by local government workers due to the current administrative logjam, is a clear vindication of the responsible and lawful approach adopted by His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke six weeks ago. It is a reinforcement of the commitment of this administration to due process, transparency, and respect for constitutional order in the governance of our local government system.
“The attempt by Osun APC to cast aspersions on the integrity of the NULGE National President, through baseless allegations of bribery and patronage, is nothing short of a display of irrational political desperation – a gratuitous act of public embarrassment akin to nakedness in the marketplace.
“Rather than address the core issues affecting the smooth running of local governments in Osun State – issues which are rooted in the illegality of the past administration’s actions – the APC has resorted to its usual tactics of misinformation, blackmail, and character assassination. This is not only unfortunate but also a disservice to the people of Osun State.”
