Osun APC Alleges Clampdown From PDP, Wants Security Beefed

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Friday alleged plans by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to attack members of the party.

The party called on the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the State Security Service (DSS) and other statutory security agencies to beef up security in the state.

A statement signed the by State chairman of the party, Mr. Tajudeen Lawal and obtained by Osun Defender correspondent, stated that stakeholders of the opposition have resolved to launch attack on APC members through organized thuggery.

The statement further disclosed that some members of the opposition who felt uncomfortable with the daily critic of Adeleke administration and continual exposure of his maladministration by APC, recently perfected the plan in Ede, Osun state.

According to the statement: “We shall keep tab on the activities of the ruling PDP-led government in the state while any untoward happening to any of our members shall be traced to the PDP goons and their sponsors.

“I wonder what could be the problems of the PDP handlers in the state that they are feeling uncomfortable towards the activities of the opposition as if opposition is not an essential ingredient of a democratic constitutional government?

“The ruling PDP-led government should allow the APC to be, as there is no record of victimization of the PDP members when they were in the opposition in the state”.

Reacting to the statement, Chairman of PDP in the state, Bisi Sunday described the purported call to security agencies in the state by APC as a smokescreen for heinous criminality being planned by the party.

Bisi however enjoined the police and other security agencies in the state not to allow themselves to be swindled of their operational ethics by the diversionary tactics of some known criminals clad in opposition regalia to unleash their usual trade of terror on innocent people of the state.

He further charged residents across the state to be more vigilant than ever, against possible attacks by militant wing of the opposition party.

“We are compelled to remind the police that it is actually about the time of the year APC would want to subject peace loving people of the state to sorrow. It is about the time of the year the blood sucking nest of killers enjoy oiling their guns to kill and maim”

“The State police command in actual fact, should dust its files and refresh itself with records of mass killing of PDP supporters in the state by APC thugs after similar alarm earlier raised by the same party,” he concluded.
