THE factional Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Rasaq Salinsile, yesterday said that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has weakened the party
Salinsile said Oyetola the APC could not stand the weakest opposition in the state currently, accusing the governor of bastardising the chances of the party in coming election.
He spoke while answering questions from journalist in Osogbo, on Wednesday.
According to him, some valuable members of the APC have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because of the maladministration of the party affairs by Oyetola.
“The APC was badly managed and when we discovered that things were going out of hand, we formed The Osun Progressives (TOP) to save the party from sinking. TOP is a damage control mechanism for the party not to die a premature death.
“Despite the formation of TOP, many valuable members have defeated to the main opposition party, PDP. But for TOP, a good number of people who would have defected are within the group and that is what is giving us hope of maintaining victory in our state come the next election.”
Salinsile described the last Saturday governorship primary election of the party as kangaroo, saying that Oyetola and his followers were celebrating electoral fraud.
“The primary election we held last Saturday was not an election. It was a kangaroo. It was marred with irregularities. The governor and his followers are celebrating electoral fraud.
“Oyetola is not popular to poll one-third of the total number of the votes of APC members in the state. The Governor knows how he manipulated the APC primary. We will take decisive step on it”, Salinsile said.
