The All Progressives Congress (APC) in State of Osun has expressed excitement at the proposed unveiling of a Digital National Centre slated to hold in Ilesa, Osun, tomorrow, Friday, January 14, 2022.
The APC, in a statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Rasak Ayobami Salinsile, thanked the Federal Government for considering Osun fit for the first unveiling of the centre as part of its overall digital economy culture under the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
The party thanked the Minister of Communications, Prof. Isah Ali Pantami, and his Interior Ministry counterpart, Rauf Aregbesola, for the gesture to ensure that Osun does not lag behind in the digital culture revolution.
The statement reads in part, “This is a welcome development. And we are eagerly awaiting for the arrival of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isah Ali Pantami and his counterpart and our amiable former Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. We must express appreciation to the Federal Government for considering Osun worthy of this centre and it is our hope that it would contribute immensely to the overall equipment of Osun youths with the new digital resources needed in the pursuit of their education, businesses and other live challenges.
“The Aregbesola administration in Osun had pioneered the idea of digital revolution especially in the education sector.
“It must be noted that the Aregbesola administration witnessed a novel idea in the creation of the one-stop digital device called Opon Imo which initiated Osun secondary school students to the benefits of digital devices for learning.
“We recall that the introduction of the Tablet of Knowledge produced great results in the performance of Osun students in public examinations to the point that an Osun student emerged one of those with highest scores in the Joint Administration and Matriculations Board Examinations (JAMB).”
The statement also recalled that the Aregbesola administration ensured the introduction of skills acquisition along the digital revolution with the setting up of the OYESTECH scheme through which about 5,000 Osun youths were trained and empowered.
Salinsile added, “This is why we in Osun recognize and appreciate the enormity of the new digital centre to be unveiled and we believe that will go a long in further enhancing the chances of the youths of our state in the years ahead.”
