The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun East Senatorial District, Hon. Francis Famurewa, has left the party.

In a resignation letter dated July 1st, 2025, Famurewa alleged internal division as well as the bickering within the party that, according to him, led to the ‘illegitimate suspension of prominent members loyal to a former prominent leader of the party, based on spurious allegations of anti-party activities.’

The letter reads, “In exercising my constitutional rights and freedom of association, I hereby humbly intimate your esteemed office about my decision to quit the APC and resign any associated office that I may hold, especially the office of the Osun East Senatorial Chairman with immediate effect.

“My decision to take a bow is not unrelated to the bickering and division within the party that has lingered beyond reasonable time which has disrupted the dynamics of party politics and consequently affected the fortunes of the party in Osun state. This decision is also imperative following the spurious allegations of anti-party and consequent upon the illegitimate suspension of key members (including my humble self) that are loyal to a targeted leader of the party.

“I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to you, your executive members, all leaders and the entire APC members for the opportunities we have explored mutually for the betterment of the good people of Osun state.

“It is emotionally challenging to bid farewell to the party that I have helped built since 2006 of AD through its metamorphosis into APC but the time is finally here to draw the curtain. I cannot, but wish you, your team and your party all the best in your political endeavours,” Famurewa noted.
