Parliamentarians of the Osun State House of Assembly under the umbrella of Ayedire/Iwo/Olaoluwa Federal Constituency have appealed for the siting of the proposed federal college of Education in Osun to the area.
The three lawmakers representing the constituency, Hon Gbenga Ogunkanmi – Ayedire, Hon Uzamot Adebayo – Iwo and Hon Adegbile Abefe – Olaoluwa In a letter addressed to the speaker of the assembly, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye gave reasons why the college of education should be sited in their constituency.
The lawmakers noted that the non-presence of federal or state institutions in the constituency, the constituency being the most populous in the state going by the 2006 population census and the only Senatorial headquarters without a government owned tertiary institution makes it imperative for the newly approved institution to be sited in Iwo Federal Constituency.
They also said the tertiary institution if brought to the area will ensure equity and fairness without political influence or interference as well as giving the present administration more support in the Constituency.
Hons. Ogunkanmi, Adebayo, Abefe stressed further that the new federal college of education if located in the area will open more doors of economic opportunities in Iwo Federal Constituency.
