Speaker of the State of Osun House of Assembly, Dr. Najeem Salaam has disclosed that healthy living condition can only be guaranteed through clean environment that is safe for human habitation.
Salaam made the remark on Thursday while speaking to journalist after an environmental sanitation exercise carried out by staff members of the parliament at the Assembly complex Osogbo.
He observed that the impact of clean environment on the health conditions of the people cannot be over emphasized.
Dr. Salaam who spoke through the Chairman House committee on Information and Strategy, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye maintained that the Assembly was trying to lead by example bearing in mind that the law backing sanitation exercise in the state emanated from the legislature.
He stressed the need for people to imbibe the culture of cleanliness, while commending the entire staff, giving the assurance that the House would sustain the tempo.
Meanwhile, the Clerk of the House of Assembly Mr. Simeon Amusan while comparing the exercise with that of previous week acknowledged full compliance and active participation of staff in the exercise.
However, he disclosed that Dr. Salaam had approved procurement of new implements for ease of carrying out the exercise.
A cross section of staff who spoke on the exercise, Alade Tajudeen, Oyeyemi Olubunmi, Samson Adesina, Akinloye Amos and Oyeniyi Kehinde expressed their satisfaction on the weekly sanitation urging the leadership of the Assembly to continue with it.
They said that the exercise is a very good one which also assist in sustaining healthy living among staff always.
