Speaker, State of Osun House of Assembly, Dr. Najeem Salaam has urged all stakeholders in education sector to enhance quality of education through policy formulation and implementation.
Dr. Salaam made this known at a public symposium organized in his honour to mark the conferment of Doctorate Degree conferred on him by the department of Political Science, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile- Ife at his GRA resident in Osogbo.
He advised youths to seek knowledge that could further brighten their chances in their different endeavours and equip them to face all the challenges of life.
He described education and knowledge as a good weapon to fight illiteracy, challenges and poverty that may become barriers to their successes in future.
According to him, “knowledge is a weapon to fight all the challenges of life and beyond so we need to acquire it at all cost”.
He however used the opportunity of the occasion to reveal his experience in life to reach the level he acquired in education through the help of people that surround him.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the occasion Elder Eyitayo Omobowale in his remark described education as the most powerful weapon to fight poverty in the society.
He urged parents and guardians to give the best of knowledge to their children so as to be a better person in future.
He said, “I want all parents and guardians to impart knowledge to their children and wards to help them become better citizens in future”.
However, the special guest of honour at the occasion who is also the deputy governor of the state, Mr. Adegboyega Alabi who noted that there should be next level in education in the state, also observed that it take discipline to excel in academics for those who want to be successful.
