Athletes from the State of Osun won 10 medals at the just concluded 3rd edition of the Africa Youth Games hosted by Algeria.
The quartet of Islamiyat Yusuf, Adedapo Opadeji, Ayomide Bello and Desmond Bello all won medals in their various sport.
Islamiyat Yusuf won 2 gold and 1 silver with Adedapo winning 3 Gold medals in weightlifting while the duo of Ayomide Bello and Desmond Bello won 3 gold and 1 silver medals in Canoe/Kayak sport.
A statement from the office of the Commissioner for Social Protection, Sports and Special Needs, Comrade Biyi Odunlade states that the athletes excelled with the support of the state government.
He added that the discovery of the athletes cum participation in the games began from the National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara state in 2017 where the state government mobilised and backed their dreams.
Odunlade commended the Governor for his investment in the participants.
