Osun-Born Scholar Adetunji Makes World’s Top 2% Scientists List
Professor Charles Oluwaseun Adetunji, an Osun-born scientist and Director of Research and Innovation at Edo State University, has been ranked among the world’s top 2% scientists in the 2024 Prestigious Career-Long List of World’s Top 2% Scientists and the Single-Year Most Impactful List of Distinguished Professors Around the Globe by Elsevier/Stanford University.
The ranking recognises his contributions to biotechnology, agriculture, and microbiology, placing him among the most impactful researchers globally.
Adetunji was also named the number one scientist in Nigeria among the top 500 authors based on scholarly output between 2021 and 2025, as well as continuously from 2019 to the present, according to SCOPUS/SCiVal at Elsevier B.V 2025.
He ranked first in three fields—microbiology, biochemistry, and agricultural and biological sciences.
Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, hailed the scholar for his achievements, describing his recognition as “a profound feat and acknowledgement of the significance accorded his works on the global stage.”
He commended Adetunji’s dedication to research and innovation, stating that his contributions would continue to inspire young scholars and elevate Osun’s reputation in the academic world.
