Osun Civil Servants Score Aregbesola’s Administration High
…Laud His Outstanding Performance
Civil Servants in the State of Osun have lauded Governor Rauf Aregbesola over his administration’s outstanding performance in all sectors during his eight years tenure in office.
Speaking through their leader, the Head of Service, Mr Festus Olowogboyega, noted that the eight years administration of Governor Aregbesola has transformed and repositioned the civil and public services in the state.
Olowogboyega who made the statement while delivering his welcome address during the Public Service Lecture and Awards Programme jointly organized by the Office of the Head of Service and State of Osun Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Osogbo, said the outgoing administration led by Aregbesola has restored hope to the hopeless through the implementation of people-oriented programmes which had directly and indirectly improved on the general well-being of the citizenry.
The Head of Service commended Aregbesola’s government for being passionate and committed to the welfare and general wellbeing of the civil servants and the entire citizens in the state.
He hailed the governor for being faithful to the tenets of the oath of allegiance and oath of office which he sworn to while assuming office.
The HOS also announced that no civil servant across sector lost his or her job under the leadership of Governor Aregbesola, a gesture which he described as unprecedented in the annals of civil service since the creation of the state.
According to him, “Today symbolizes the celebration of worthy victory, good governance and exemplary leadership in the annals of civil service in Osun as it remains the first time in the history of the state for an outgoing Governor to be openly celebrated and honoured in this manner.
“The outgoing administration has truly bequeathed worthy legacy in all sectors of the economy as being manifested in the successful implementation of its policies and programmes since inception.
“As we celebrate the successful tenure of our Governor, it is important to us to let the whole world know that this government has delivered on the mandate willingly given by the good people of Osun. Our governor has done excellently well”.
In his remarks, Governor Aregbesola appreciated the rank and file of civil servants in the state for being supportive of his administration since inception.
He described Osun workforce as one of the best in the world, saying his government had been privileged to have worked with outstanding civil servants in the last eight years.
Aregbesola who tagged his speech, “The Good Service”, charged civil servants in the state to maintain the spirit of resilience, productivity and hard work which his administration had laid in all sectors.
He described the civil service as the engine room of government, noting that it has become imperative on every worker in the state to justify his or her income with efficiency, effectiveness and diligence to duty.
“There is therefore the need for the service to double its effort by increasing productivity. The concept of productivity in the public sector is not as clear as in the private sector. In the later, the balance sheet is the ultimate judge and it is indisputable when your account is in surplus or otherwise.
“We tried to conceive of it in the state as the extent to which a department of government impacted the society in its area of service,’’ he said.
